I thank those who, through their talents, ideas and belief in this concept have brought KC Local Color™ and this website to life.

I grew up in a unique, midtown neighborhood. We all knew one another and helped each other out. Shopping meant finding exactly what you needed while sharing a laugh or good story with local storeowners. I still look for these experiences.

Over time, its become harder to know which businesses are owned independently. Shopping has become more impersonal and less enjoyable. The same products can be found in any U.S. town.

Recent news stories remind all Americans of the importance of a sense of place, the meaning of community, of dealing with trustworthy businesses and of giving all of our citizens a chance to live the American Dream.

Think of your neighbors businesses when you need a carpenter, a computer consultant or a good cup of coffee. They are your neighbors and they care. Its good for Kansas City too.
